If you are not happy drinking the same beer or wine all the time, or if you are bored of strong shots to get rid of tiredness and stress, it’s time to make your own cocktail! Not so mild, not so strong, blood orange margarita mix is just for you.
Cocktails always remind me of sunbathing on a beach chaise lounge on a sunny summer day. One sip of margarita, one bite of your tropical fruit, now you can go on reading your favorite magazine. We started to make our summer holiday plans, so I spend more time dreaming about those leisure days. But still we have to wait a lot.
We may have to wait for the summer but there’s no need to wait for a cocktail! You can make your margarita all round the year using your favorite fruit of the season. We wanted to have a blood orange margarita before we no longer have the citrus fruits in the market.
Actually this was the first time we made blood orange margarita cocktail. I remember using regular oranges and grapefruit, but the reddish color of these blood oranges were so tempting. And we liked the balance between sweet and sour taste of the cocktail given by the orange and lemon juice. Depending on your choice, you can add some more lemon juice to make it more sour, or you can double the amount of honey to make your blood orange margarita sweeter. The amount of tequila and orange liqueur in the mix was so good for us, just a few glasses and then we all had a big grin on our faces.
Just a few tips: after you squeeze the oranges and lemons, don’t forget to strain the pulp using a sieve for a thinner mix, or if you like, let them go inside your margarita. And finally, chill your cocktail for about two hours before serving.
