It all started when I eventually had the chance to have a lunch at Katz’s Deli in New York City. On a hot afternoon I walked a few blocks down Houston street and saw the sign of Katz’s on the corner Ludlow street, stepped in the perfectly cooled restaurant, I took my ticket, got a small briefing on how it works, picked up a corned beef sandwich and a cola, found an empty chair, sat down, and looked at the sandwich on my tray. Then I didn’t stop until I gobbled down everything on the tray. That was a great happiness and satisfaction. It was also a kind of inspiration to make this delimaniac sandwich.
If your meal is not visually satisfying, it is hard for you to enjoy it even if it tastes well. Therefore, first you should feed your eyes, and then your stomach. Sandwiches are usually visually satisfying with a lot of ingredients and we like them. But this deli maniac sandwich goes one step ahead.
Smoked turkey breast, large sized beef salami and sliced cheddar, they were the main ingredients for my delimaniac sandwich. And I spread some mustard and olive paste inside the bread slices. Especially mustard is a good choice for a deli sandwich.
Actually you don’t need any side dish for a large sandwich, but I had some pickled and fresh cucumbers at Katz’s, and they were also fine with my sandwich. As for the drink, I think you have only one choice: a big glass of ice cold coke is the best beverage you can have with a large sandwich. Or a pint of beer may also be good.
Making and having this sandwich for lunch is both easy and time saving. Eating a lot of sandwich will bring you a lot of extra calories, but once in a month will not do a lot of harm!
