Appetizers are the beginning part of a larger meal. Usually served cold, some appetizers can also be served hot. They are usually eaten to accompany a drink -usually wine- before the main course comes to the table. These garlic avocado bites are so delicious that you don’t want to go on with the main course.
Sometimes I don’t want to eat something for dinner and just have a snack. What usually happens to me is I start with an appetizer, that triggers my urge to eat more, and finally I leave the table with a full stomach. This garlic avocado bites recipe is responsible for the extra calories I take.
Avocado is a miraculous fruit that I usually have in my kitchen. Ripe or green, they are used very commonly for a variety of recipes ranging from desserts to pastas. Garlic avocado bites make a really good party food, you can have it as a quick on the go breakfast, for lunch, before the main course during dinner, or when you suddenly feel very hungry before you go to bed.
As you can guess it has a fresh and soft texture and a characteristic smell which reveals how healthy it is. Addition of parsley and purple onion makes it even healthier. I just didn’t want to spoil its healthy character and used whole grain bread. This combination proved very delicious. Like all snacks with avocado, this recipe will be one of your favorites.
The best thing about the recipe is that, it is a very fast, easy and a budget friendly one. The ingredients are easily available in all the supermarkets in town. I had a glass of red wine to enjoy these snacks, my husband preferred beer. It’s a good match with most of the alcoholic drinks. A small piece of advice: always have some extra avocados at home, they are quickly eaten up and you may be asked to prepare more!

Ingredients
- 1 Avocado
- 4 Slices of whole grain bread
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 clove of garlic
- 2 leaves of parsley
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- A little thinly sliced purple pepper (to decorate)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Mash the avocado
- Add the lemon juice, olive oil, mashed garlic, chopped parsley and salt
- Combine and spread on the slices
- Decorate with onions
