Originated in Naples, Italy, pizza is a kind of flatbread usually served for lunch or dinner. Dough is often covered with tomato sauce and cheese and topped with different ingredients. Having countless variations worldwide, pizza is the favorite course of many people, especially the kids. So I decided to make some more variations for my men at home and improvised this mini pizza bites recipe.
For most of us having pizza means ordering online or stopping by a pizzeria. Yes, we like it a lot, but we are not sure how healthy those pizzas are, or whether they really have fresh ingredients. Of course we’ll go on visiting the pizzeria on the corner and ordering pizza, but sometimes making your own feels really good, so let’s try these mini pizza bites.
The best thing about making your own pizza is that you are not limited to the pizza menu: use anything you like! Anchovies, prosciutto, veggies, some red hot chili pepper, sausages, your favorite cheese, and whatever you like…
I only used what we had in the refrigerator. The good thing is that you can make special pizzas to everyone’s taste. My husband is a prosciutto addict, and I made a special one for him, the kids like it with corn and sausage, so they had their special mini pizza bites.
Whatever you see on the top, the real secret of your pizza lies behind your tomato sauce and the cheese. In the season fresh tomatoes make it great, but using puree or tomato paste when you don’t have real tomatoes grown under real sunlight is also a good alternative. And of course feel free to add any spice you like to your tomato sauce. And for cheese, mozzarella and parmesan on the top are the best all the time. But sometimes some local cheese types are also used.Let’s make a change and make your own pizza. Mini pizza bites are just for you if you’re not living in Naples or Campania or have Italian neighbours.
