Whenever we have some wine for the weekend, we find ourselves in the kitchen preparing quick salami canapes. We think they are enjoyable, delicious and great with wine.
After a long dry month, the sky could no longer keep its tears. It was not an ordinary downpour: there was no way to keep dry. Even the windowsill had some ponds that eventually ended up in small waterfalls into our apartment. While taking care of those ponds, the bell rang. We were not expecting anybody. We thought it was the next door neighbor, but the great surprise appeared when we opened the door. Very old friends from college years with a bottle of French red wine were waiting for a “come in”. It was a great surprise.
But we had a problem: we almost had nothing to eat at home, and it was still raining outside, and we like eating something when we drink wine.
We had some bread, some cheese and salami, tomato and olive paste, and some pickles. We could make some sandwiches or canapés, and we preferred to have some canapes with French wine.
Quick salami canapes are easy to prepare and enjoyable to eat. What is more, they never leave dishes to wash after you finish eating. You can prepare canapes with whatever you want.
This recipe includes what we had at home, but you can use totally different stuff for your own recipe. Bacon, fruits, veggies, shrimps, fish, all types of cheese and pastes are most commonly used ingredients for canapes. The important point you should consider when you make canapes is that they must be salty or spicy and appetizing. But if you like sweets, why not include some sweets for your canapes! Salty and spicy ones make them a great companion for wine. Since it encourages you to drink more, you should be careful about responsible drinking. Enjoy your canapes. They are yummy, practical and appetizing.
