A simple loaf of bread turns into a great sandwich with just a few fillings. Some salami, some cheese, some greens (or purples) and a sauce you fancy, that’s all. As an avocado addict, with a simple sauce I made this avocado French bread sandwich recipe, and they were really yummy.
Finally it’s March and you can feel the changes in the nature. The weather is getting milder, some of the trees are slowly turning green heralding the start of the picnic season, and picnic means sandwiches to me. As a family chef, I always associate everything with eating, but that’s who I am.
Imagine kids running and jumping everywhere with their limitless energy, suddenly feeling hungry and asking for something to eat. The best thing you can give them is a well packed sandwich unless your husband is busy with the barbecue. That’s very delicious, very healthy, and very mobile!
Depending on how much time you have, you can prepare a simple or a large sandwich. I was planning to make chicken French bread sandwiches with no sauce, but they would be so dry, so I ended up with a simple and healthy avocado sauce making the sandwiches creamy inside and so yummy.
Preparation of the sauce for your avocado French bread sandwich lasts only five minutes with your blender. Some yogurt, half an avocado, some olive oil, lime juice and garlic. Depending on your choice, you can add mayo, ketchup and mustard. As the sauce makes it creamy enough, I just added some mustard. Or if you like it hot, why not add some chili sauce like my husband did!
The bread is also very important when you’re making a sandwich. I used two loaves of whole wheat sour dough French bread. Actually, I don’t like my bread to be sweet when I’m eating a sandwich. But you can choose any type of bread you like. You should just remember that the better the bread is, the better your French bread avocado sandwich tastes.
